Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition

The clock is ticking. Well, I think it is – I can’t really tell by looking.
In any event – tomorrow is the Dallas Opera’s annual celebration of young Texas singing talent: The 22nd annual Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition with thousands of dollars in prize monies on the line. This is a free event, starting at 11:30 am this Saturday with the semifinal round and continuing tomorrow evening at 7:30 pm with another great free event: the finals round, which includes “The People’s Choice Award,” lots of great musical talent on display and a champagne and dessert buffet that allows you to stuff down cookies and truffles while the judges adjudicate.
Did I mention it’s all free, free, free?
Just make your way over to Gooch Auditorium on the campus of UT Southwestern Medical Center (off Harry Hines at Butler). Free parking, complimentary valet for the finals round. This year’s competition honors former Guild President Nancy Ritter but it’s just a fantastic opportunity to hear the stars of tomorrow, today.
See you there….(image courtesy of wolkje.net)
